(Sagkeeng First Nation) Ishkonigan – Fontaine Strategic Solutions wishes to announce that Phil Fontaine will step down as President of Ishkonigan to assume the role of Executive Advisor effective December 4, 2020. Michael Fontaine has accepted the promotion from Vice-President to the position of President and will assume this role on December 1, 2020. Michael has been a key member of the Ishkonigan management team since 2011 after 14 years in the federal civil service and four years with the Sagkeeng First Nation. He is excited to take over a premier consulting firm with an exemplary track record of success and roster of clients.

Ishkonigan was founded in 2009 by Phil Fontaine. Phil was Chief in his community, Sagkeeng First Nation, at age 28. He went on to serve as Grand Chief of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs for three terms and then elected National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations for an unprecedented three terms. Phil is a tireless advocate for the recognition of Indigenous people in Canadian society, the eradication of poverty, increasing Indigenous involvement in the Canadian economy at all levels, and Reconciliation.

Ishkonigan is comprised of proven professionals with extensive expertise in all aspects of law, government, politics and business.
